Aims

• In psych research, aims are developed from theories, in psych these tend to be much more sophisticated and are based on many hours of research 
• Aims are general statements that describe the purpose of an investigation 

Hypotheses

• A statement that is made at the start of the study and clearly states the relationship between variables as stated by the theory
• Hypotheses can be directional or non-directional
• In a directional hypothesis the researcher makes clear the sort of difference that is anticipated between two conditions/ two groups of people
