BOWLBY'S THEORY OF ATTACHMENT
- EVOLUTIONARY- attachments are thought to develop through natural selection and a survival instinct
- INTERNAL WORKING MODEL- the childs first attachment will provide a template for future attachments including romantic ones
- MONTROPY- the innate tendancy to direct an attachment towards one single main caregiver
- CRITICAL PERIOD- attachments are formed in the first three years and if not infants will struggle to form future attachments
