Guy Fawkes

Guy Fawkes was persuaded to join a Catholic plot to blow up James I and his ministers at the opening of Parliament.

The plot was discovered on the 5th November 1605:

• Some historians believe that the government knew about it right from the start.
• Fawkes was arrested, red handed in the cellar of the parliament building which was already packed with gunpowder.               
• The rest of the plotters were hunted down.
