How william the conquereror took control
On 14th october 1066 William duke of Normandy defeated the king of england Harold Godwinson. However he knew that the witans would come and submit to him.
Going towards the London William took over Dover, Cantubery and winchester before going to wallingford. This is where the archbishop of cantubery decided to submit to William as he knew resistance was high.
Not long later the archbishop of York sumbitted to William aswell as Edwin and Morcar
On christmas day 1066 William duke of Normandy was crowned king of england and the first Norman king.
