in and out of school factors (gender)

?

three main questions:

in and out of school factors

  • external factors

- women's movement and feminism challenge gender stereotypes as well as raising awareness of patriarchy and sex discrimination

- emphasis on positive role models such as working mothers and the growth in opportunities for women help raise girls' ambitions and expectations. - boys lack this ambition due to declining opportunities and the role of the male breadwinner, referred to as the 'crisis of masculinity'

  • internal factors

- more emphasis on equal opportunities for girls encourage them into male-dominated subjects such as (STEM). this drives to reduce stereotyping in the classroom
