Emmeline and Christabel Pankhurst 

• Christabel started militancy from 1905, heckling an MP in 1905
• Emmeline founded and ran the organisation, was its chairman from the beginning 
• Emmeline also supported militancy, 1914 was arrested for trying to get a petition to KIng George V 
• However they were quite elitist which alienated a lot of working class women, split from ILP in 1906 
• Also did not run the organisation democratically, in 1907 Teresa Billingtom Gregg left after they refused to be more democratic 

Sylvia Pankhurst
