Influences on the Mission of a business

Aims
One of the aims of Mcdonalds is "to provide friendly service, in a relaxed and constistent restaurant envirnment". The sucess of the organisation depends upon turning this aim into practice. Whether right or wrong corporate aims act as the basis for setting the organisations objectives. These are the targets that must be achieved in order for the aims to be realised. The sucess or failure of a decsion can be determined by asking if it meats the business objectives.
Mission statement - it is an attempt to put corporate objectives into words that inspire. Shop floor staff are more likely to be motivated by a mission statement of this kind rather than simply "maximise profit".
Not all businesses have a mission statement, some feel it is impossible to sum up the whole business in one small piece of writing. For example M&S don't publish a statement as they want the employees…
