J.S Bach - Partita No. 4 in D Sarabande and Gigue
J.S Bach had a reputation of being a composer and a performer in the Baroque period of music. The Sarabande and the Gigue are both baroque dances.
The recording of this piece was played on the piano, but Bach, who was not a pianist would most probably have composed it for a harpsichord. This is proven in the pieces as there are no dynamic markings, as you cannot change the way you play on a harpsichord.
The Sarabande is almost entirely 2 part writing. We can hear that the piece is written in melody dominated homophony as the right hand plays the melody and the left…
