Mesophyll- Middle of a leaf
Important features of leaves
- Leaves are broad, so there is a large surface area exposed to light
- Thin, meaning carbon dioxide and water vapour only have to travel short distances to reach photosynthesising cells.
- Air spaces, allowing gases to move easily between cells. Large surface area for gas exchange (internal surface area to volume rate)
