life processes and the variety of living organisms
1.1
Understand that living organisms share the following characteristics
- most of all living orgainsms have eigth life process in comoon
- nutrition they require food to stay alive
- excertion they get rid of waste products
- movemenent of all or parts of the orgainsm
- growth and devlopment
- respiration getting energy from food
- responding to stimuli changes in the surrounding
- reporoduction producting offspring
- controling their internal enviroment
living organisms
- all living orgainms have eight life process in common
- all living organisms are made from tiny bulidng blocks called cells
- some organisms have lots of cells they are called muliticellular
- some orgainsms consits of single cell which are called unicellular
plants
- are muliticellular
- they carry out photosynthesis using carbon dixoide and water to make glucose and oxygen
- have chloroplast which contians green pigment called chlorophyll which absorbs sun light for photosynthesies
- have cell wall made of cellulose which gives the plant support and strength
- store carboyhdrate as starch and sucrose
examples include
- flowering plants such as cereals e.g maize
- grasses
- sunflower
- herbaceous legume (e.g. peas or beans).
animals
- are multicellular
- are organisms which can not carry out photosynthesis as they do not have chloroplast which contians chlorophyll
- animal cells do not have cell wall
- most animals …
