Lungs
Lungs are not made of any muscle tissue at all and are paralysed
The lungs require the increasing and decreasing pressure created by the movement of the diaphragm
Structure
Physiology
Function
Trachea
Large lumen,cartlidge ridged
Allows large quantities of air through, must cope with changing pressure
Bronchi
First branch off trachea, quite large, cartilage ridged
Allows large quantities of air through, must cope with changing pressure
Bronchioles
Small lumen,cartlidge ridged
Allow smaller amounts of air, has to cope less with changing pressure
Lobes
Tissue compromising of bronchioles and alveoli
Gas exchange
Gas exchange
The body needs to exchange carbon dioxide for oxygen.
It does this for cellular respiration and it happens in the alveoli
Diffusion is the net movement of particles from an area of higher concentration…
