• Parma diverted funds to assist the French Catholic League
• 5.5 million crowns by 1595

1585 – Treaty of Nonsuch (England)

• Signed because of plots against Elizabeth
• Elizabeth agreed to open intervention to Netherlands whereas she had previously stayed out of it
• gave the Netherlands a leader, a governor general, her friend the Earl of Leicester
• agreed to supply 4000 infantry and 400 cavalry
• agreed to pay states general 600,000 florrins a month
