Party Organisation 

• Parties are far more partisan now, Trump v Clinton split the country half and half
• However there is still some overlap, Texas democrat very similar to a californian republican
• Party organisation tends to be more top down these days, Obama setting policy from 2008 - 2016 
• However when in opposition parties tend to be more bottom up, grassroots movement under Bernie Sanders in 2016 
• State party comittees also have a considerable amount of power, govenors setting the agenda such as Arnold Swachernegger in California 
• However ultimately policy tends to stick to national party, all democrats tend to be…
