Phenylephrine Hydrochloride 2.5% eye drops.
Indications:
- topical mydriatic
- can be combined with other mydriatics/cycloplegics to assess deeply pigmented eyes
Administration
- use a topical anaesthetic to avoid stinging
- adults - one drop in each eye. another drop can be instilled after 1 hour if needed. do not exceed two drops.
- children - one drop.
- not recommended for use in newborns.
Contraindications:
- cardiac disease, hypertension, aneurysm, thyroxicosis, tachycardia
- insulin dependant diabetes
- mono amine oxide inhibitors
- trycyclic antidepressants
- high blood pressure
