1933- Concentration camps and torture chambers were being set up around Germany. These were used by the SA as a campaign of violence against Socialist and Communists. Hitler Ordered many camps to be shut down in 1934. Some SA officers in camps such as Dachau were arrested and charged with murdering prisoners. This was the first look at what Concentration caps would be like in the future.
When Himmler became in charge of all concentration camps in Germany there were already 3000 inmates, this indicated that the Nazis had almost eliminated the Communists and Socialist opposition. Himmler then closed all cams apart from Dachau, Sachsenhausen, Buchenwald and Lichtenburg. This however still left 14,000 political prisoners in state prisons. The Nazis continued to put…
