EXPLAIN THE REASONS WHY SOCKS (60% COTTON/40% POLYAMIDE) MADE THROUGH WEFT KNITTING, WORE AWAY AT THE HEEL, LEAVING A THIN NET-LIKE MESH OF POLYAMIDE FIBRE:
- Polyamide is a stronger fibre than cotton is, it has good resilience and durability
- Weft knitting is much weaker than war knitting - it looses its shape easily
- there's a lot more friction at the heels of the foot
- the reason why only some "thin" mesh like netting is because there was more cotton than polyamide - 60% to be exact
- core-spun yarns
POLYESTER IS A VERY STRONG FIBRE, YET THE SATIN FABRIC WAS QUICKLY SPOILED. ANALYSE THE REASON FOR THIS. (WAS A TABLE COVERING)
- The reason it didn't wear into a hole is because polyester is a very strong fibre so it held the overall structure together
- however, the satin fabric was satin woven - the 'floats' (shiny bit of the material) obviously caught on a jaggered egde of plates, bowls on the table.
- satin is a poor choice for a table cloth since it will always…
