Probability basics
all probabilities are between 0 and 1
- the higher the probability of something, the more likely it is
- a probability of 0 means it will never happen
- a probability of 1 means it definitely will happen
you can find some probabilities using a formula
- the following formula only works if all the possible results are equally likely
- number of ways for something to happen / total number of possible results
probabilities add up to 1
- if only one possible result can happen at a time, then the probabilities of all the results add up to 1
- P(event happens) + P(event doesn't happen) = 1
