AIM:to see if new learning interferes with previous learning.
METHOD:Participents were divided into 2 groups. Group A were asked to learn a list of word paris i.e cat-tree they were then asked to learn a second list of word pairs. Group B were asked to learn the first list of word pairs only. both groups were asked to recall the first list of word pairs.
RESULTS:Group Bs recall of the first list was more accurate than that of group A.
CONCLUSION:New learning interfered with participents ability to recall the first list things we already know can cause problems when we try to take in new information. this is known as proactive interference.
