Moral development

Kohlberg, in studying the moral development within children, suggested three stages of moral development:

Level 1: Pre conventional Morality

Based on the riles of outside authority and consequences of action

Level 2: Conventional Morality

Authority is internlised and reasoning based on the norms of the group to which you belong, other peoples opinon.

Level 3: Post-conventional Morality

Judgements are based on self chosen priciples and moral reasoning based on individual rights and justice.
