Boys find it harder to get uti’s because their urethra is longer 

Kidneys - filter the blood

Hormones can filter less or more of certain substances 

Osmoregulation - 

Hypertonic - too much salt in the blood - water potential of the blood is lower than in the RBC. Water goes from the cytoplasm of RBC into blood. Cell shrinks and shrivels = crenation

Hypotonic - too little salt in the blood - water potential is higher than in the RBC. Water goes from blood into blood  cells - swells and bursts = haemolysis
