risk assessment involves making sure that any potential dangers or hazards are identified before any physical activity gets underway. the environment has to be considered very carefully to make sure that the challenage can be faced safely and acceptably for example a wet slippery surface might mean that it would not be safe to continue with certain types of activity.

risk control is making sure that an activity is carried out as safely as possible.
