Scale of Production
One-off Production - Make one of a kind products, to meet customer's exact requirements. It is labour intensive and the workforce needs to be highly skilled, therefore making it expensive. Examples: made-to-measure furnitures, paintings.
Batch Production - Make specific quantity of products in batches. It can be repeated as many times. Process done step by step. It is used to manufacture a load of one product. The machinery and workforce needs to be flexible. However, the time between batches called downtime - wastes money. Sometimes you may get half-made products making it inefficient. Examples: leaflet, brochures, guillotine
