The May Crisis
In late April there were a series of violent demonstrations against Milyukov (a Kadet and Foreign Minister of the Provisional Government) as he stated that Russia would continue to play a full role in the war - Milyukov resigned in May and a new government was formed

The new government had five socialist members, including Tsereteli (leader of the Mensheviks) and Chernov (leader of the Socialist Revolutionaries). Keresnky became Minister for War. 

From this point, the Mensheviks and SRs became associated with the war - when the war went badly, they lost popularity. Their association with the Provisional Government also isolated them from the Soviet
