LEXIS 

Lexical field = Group of words from the same lexical area.

Archaic = Words which are no longer in common use.

Dated Lexis = Adjectives of approval. 

Obsolete / Obsolescene = Words which have completely vanished. 

Neologism / Coinages = New words.

Initalism = Abbreviations e.g. BBC TV DVD 

Polysyllabic = Words including more than one syllable. 

Diminutives = Imformal versions of words (child language) e.g. mummy daddy.

Clippings = Shortened versions of words e.g. bye temp.

Phatic language = Social
