NICK CARRAWAY

The novels narrator. Young man from Missesota who was educated at Yale and fought in World War One. Inclined to reserve judgement, but doesn't always. Moves to West Egg (fictional area of Long Island) and moves into the house next door to Jay Gatsby. He is Daisy's cousin, and helps Jay to rekindle his and Daisy's lost romance. The sotry is told entirely in Nick's perspective. 

JAY GATSBY

Protgonist. Wealthy, young, living in a massive, gothic mansion. He throws parties every saturday night- we learn, to grab Daisy's attention, who loves accross the lake. No one knows where he comes from, what he does or how he made his fortune. Nick learns that Gatsby was born James Gatz on a farm…
