1.1 Causes.
· Between July 6th-8th, the community gathered around Wymondhem for a feast. Many were drunk and angry and crowds broke down some enclosure fences.
· They did this to local lawyer John Flowerdew who was unpopular because he was In dispute with locals over an abbey he had bought and pulled down.
· Flowerdew encouraged crowds to attack the hedges of a local tanner Robert Kett. Kett welcomed their action and assumed leadership.
· By July 10th, the rebels had reached Norwich and by July 12th they had encamped on Mousehold Heath with a crowd of 16,000. Kett produced a list of demands and waited for a response.
