-           Convey messages to the brain for a suitable response to be made.

-          CNS + PNS

Dysfunction:

-          Multiple Sclerosis- (disease of the CNS) – the myelin sheath breaks down as it is attacked by white blood cells

Cause:

-          Unknown

-          Genetics appear to increase risk

-          More common in Western areas.
