History of Baroque Music
The term "baroque" was first used to describe architecture and art.
Baroque architecture and art was very grand and decorative.
Musicians adopted this term to describe their grand and decorative pieces of classical music.
Formally baroque describes the 150 year period from the birth of opera to the death of J.S. Bach- one of the most famous baroque composers.
Orchestras really came to light in this era, despite the fact that they existed beforehand.
These orchestras, however, were really small (no more than 25 instrumentalists.)
