Early Years
As soon as the child was born, it would be inspected. If the father did not want it, it would be exposed.
If it was a boy, the house was decorated with a wreath of olives, for a girl a wreath of wool.
The child would be introduced to the family after five days, and would be accepted into the family during the amphidromia, where the father would carry it around the hearth at a run.
10 days after birth, it would be named. This would be celebrated.
They would be looked after by their mother and possibly some slaves.
They were probably told stories like Aesop's fables, and had toys to play with.
Education
Boys started school at age seven and would remain there for ten years. Only wealthy parent could send their child to school. It was important…
