TYPES OF CONSTITUTIONS.

Codified and Uncodified.

Codified - A constitution in which all constitutional provisions are together within one legal document. This can sometimes be confused with a written constitution.

A codified constitution usually involves a level of 'higher law', a two-tier legal system where constitutional laws are entrenched and are much harder to amend or dismiss.

Uncodified - A constitution that is made up from rules that are found in a variety of sources, without a legal document. Sometimes confused with the term unwritten constitution.
