What is the UK Constitution?

  • Accumulation of traditions, customs, conventions, precedents and Acts of Parliament. Has developed gradually. Unsystematic as many ancient origins. 
  • No attempt has been made to collate it and codify it until 2010 when a Cabinet Manual was set up to some identify key conventions and practises. 
  • Uncodified (no single document) 
  • Unitary (Parliament makes laws for all parts of the UK) 
  • Flexible ( Can be changed by Acts of Parliament
