LABOUR STRENGTHS

  • Proved themselves in 1924, passing legislation on housing, education and social insurance despite being a minority government. 
  • MacDonald's public condemnation of the 1926 General Strike persuaded those who supported/ were members of the TUC to switch their suport to Labour. 
  • Labour campaigned to attract flapper vote after women aged 21+ were voting for the first time and informed the public to vote positively. 

CONSERVATIVE WEAKNESSES

  • Relied on the popularity of Stanley Baldwin and portrayed him as 'the man you can trust' giving an image of complacency to the party. 
  • Used the slogan 'safety first' which was unsucessful…
