Plasma Membrane (Cell Surface Membrane)
Regulates movement of substances into and out of cell. Has receptor molecules which allow it to respond to chemicals eg hormones.
1 of 14
Cell Wall
Supports plant cells
2 of 14
Nucleus
Contains chromatin which is made from protein and DNA. DNA allows it to control activities.Pores allow substances to move between the nucleus and cytoplasm
3 of 14
Lysosome
Contains digestive enzymes used to digest invading cells or will be used to break down worn out components
4 of 14
Ribosome
Where proteins are made
5 of 14
Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum
Folds and processes proteins that have been made at the ribosomes
6 of 14
Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum
Synthesises and processes lipids
7 of 14
Vesicle
Transports substances in and out of cell and between organelles.
8 of 14
Golgi Apparatus
Processes and packages new lipids and proteins. Also makes lysosomes
9 of 14
Mitochondrion
Site of aerobic respiration where ATP is produced
10 of 14
Chloroplast
Where photosynthesis takes place
11 of 14
Centriole
Involved with separation of chromosomes
12 of 14
Cillia
Microtubules allow cilia to move. This helps to move substances along the cell surface
13 of 14
Flagellum
Microtubules contract to make flagellum move
