Cognitive Theorist - Piaget.
Identified 4 stages; the sensorimotor stage, the preoperational stage, the concrete operational stage and the formal operation stage. Piaget suggests that children sort the knowledge they acquire through interactions into groups called schemas.

The zone of proximal development. This is the idea that children need to interact and be guided in order to learn.
