Binary
used to represent all data on a computer and represent program instrucitons. Includes numbers, text, sound, images, etc.

Binary digits (bits)
the smallest unit of data that is represented in a computer, has a single binary value, either 1/0

when there isn't enough room for a result - produces an overflow error
