When the dancer and the music work together very closely helping to show the overall theme. For example high lyrical notes resulting in a jump/softer movements in a quieter section

Exact physical interpretation of the music. Using rhythm, melody and harmony, visually miming what we hear. For example little bounces and a jumping in the music (repetitions of same note)

Mutual Coexistence?
Music and dance are created independently of each other. They exist at the same time but with no relationship to each other - any connection between them is coincidental.

Identification of Mood / Character?
Often used in many genres of dance similar to that in movies. It enhances the mood helping to build up visual tension providing a subtle backdrop to the dance, drawing in focus and concentration.
