Continuity Editing
Aims to present text in a linear and chronological manner to emphasise real time movement of the narrative and to create a sense of realism.

Non-Continuity Editing
Draws attention to editing and revealing film as constructed-may be deliberately disruptive or disjointed

Straight Cut
One image cuts directly to another without punctuation

Wipe Cut
Object wipes across the screen bringing a new image with it

Justified Cut
New image presented makes sense because of its preceding image

Unjustified Cut
New image makes no sense because of its preceding image

Jump Cut
Occurs when two shots are shot from approximately the same position, one immediately follows the other after editing which makes the audience feel like they have missed part of the action.

Insert
Director inserts a shot of an object he wants to focus on

Cross Cutting
Used to tell audience two things are happening at the same time but in two locations

Cutaway
A brief shot which momentarily interrupts the action by showing a related action object or person, not part of the main scene and then cuts back to the main action.

Match Cut
Emphasises spatio-temporal continuity. Two camera shot's compositional elements match, establishing a strong continuity of action

Eyeline Match
Begins with character looking in specific direction, then cuts to shot of the are the character was looking at

SRS
One character shown looking at another character then the 2nd character is seen to be looking back at the 1st one

Action Match
Matches the action of characters or objects in one shot to the next shot where action continues or is completed.

Graphic Match
Occurs when the shapes, colours, and overall movement of two shots match in composition either within a scene or especially acrosa a transition between 2 scenes.
