Development indicators have some disadvantages...
1) Economic indicators can be inaccurate for counties where trade is informal (not taxed). 2) Social indicators, are more difficult to measure but they give an indication on the quality of life.

Categories of Development
MEDC, MDC, NIC, LEDC, LDC, MIC are better ways of categorising counties because in the 1980s the Brandt line was a limited indication of MEDCs and LEDCs, for instance South Africa is more developed than Ethiopia.
