Violence against black people, led to commonwealth immigrants act of 1962 which put restrictions on entrants according to ethnic origin, aimed to improve race relations.

Growing affluence gave young people more independence. First generation not to live through war, targeted by advertisiers making them feel diffeent and special. Saitre led to to the end of the age of deference.

Disagreement concerning comprehensive schools and those who favoured grammar schools. 11+ was dubious, children given up on at age 11. Lower ability children received inferior education. Bright pupils did well in gram + comp. Comp = no trades.

1957-68 Britain gave independence to it's colonies. Too expensive to maintain after WWII, paid out more than it got back in profits.

1963. Adultery. 2 Minister's shown in evidence in court (pornographic images). Embarrassed the Govt.

1963 - Minister for war John Profumo alleged to have sexual liaison with Christine Keeler. Prostitute who claims to have a USSR minister as a client. Security breach and risk. Said it was a lie, 3 months later admitted he was lying and resigned.
