The chain of causation will be broken there is no liability for unlawful homicde. But there probaly will be liablity for the orginal act for example assault occasioning actual bodily harm

the defendant was involved in a fight with a soilder, stabbed the victim with a bayonet. The defendant tried to argue the chain of causation was broken. He was dropped twice, given treatment which was bad, medical officer failed to see the injuries

The victim was shot in the thigh ans stomach, the victim died from a complication from a tracheotomy, the tracheotomy was to help breathing problems and wasn't independent of the wounds, chain of causation not broken
