Describe the difference between Osteoporosis and Osteomalacia.
Osteoporosis is concerned with a decreased normal bone mass. Osteomalacia is concerned with too much matrix to the amount of bone, and the decalcification and softening of the bone.

What can be done to prevent fractured bones?
Have a well balanced calcium rich diet, weight baring exercise, adequate vitamin D intake, healthy body weight, reduce alcohol intake.
Hip (80% women, 90% over 50yrs), Vertebral (75% from normal activities), wrist fractures (mainly women), fracture at 1 site - 10 fold increase of same site fracture.
