St Anselm's Ontological Argument
'God is that, which no greater can be conceived'- must mean god exists. things can exist in minds and in reality. any good thing would be better if they existed in reality as well as in your mind. if we conceive god in mind as greatest then god exist

Guanilo's argument
thinking of a lost island. thinking of the most perfect island ever. if can be imagined then it must exist as it is the best island and nothing can be better so must exist in reality

Anselm's response
the argument can only work for necessary beings that cannot not exist

Problem with Anselm's response
begging the question fallacy. assume the thing you are trying to prove with your argument. by using necessary beingin his definition of God, anselm makes God's existence a part of his definition.

Kant's objection
Existence is not a predicate. if god exists then he must be the greatest thing we can imagine;but that does not mean that he does exist.predicates add to the essenceof their subjects, but they can't be used to prove their existence.

John Wisdom's parable of the invisible gardner
what's the differnece between an invisible, intangible, unsmellabl, entirely undetecable gardner..... and no gardner at all? this shows that when confronted some believers will create excusess to try and prevent their beliefs being disproved
