The Kinderscenen were written in 1838 (they are obviously Romantic, 1650 would be the Renaissance era which this music is definitely not from.) There is no rising sequence in bars 1 to 4 of No. 1, the melody (which is in the right hand) has a rising minor 6th and then descends. This main melody is 2 bars long and bars 3 to 4 are an exact repeat of it; there is no sequencing used - (i.e. the melody being transposed a note higher each time it is played.) Also Monophony = one line of music, in this piece there is a melody that is played at times in the right hand and at others in the left but is accompanied by chords in the other hand.
