Situational Approach
Behaviour is determined largely by the environment or situation and not the characteristics of the person

Environmental influences and reinforcement shape the way people behave

Interactional Approach
Situation and the person are co-determinants of behaviour

Interaction between person and situation could explain twice as many behaviours as traits or situations alone

BUT KEY DIFFERENCE: Does not focus on fixed traits, but rather a person’s understanding and interpretation

Integrative Approach
Consideration to the interaction of biological, psychological, and social factors is needed to understand one’s personality
