Drive theory suggests there is a linear relationship between perfomance and arousal. It is the result of how well learned a skill is (habit) x drive. Therofore drive theory only occurs when skills are well learnt
19 of 22
Evaluate drive theory?
helps exlain why begginers find it difficult to perform well under pressue as there dominat response may be less habitual and less skillfully learnt/ loss of motivation.doesnt explain why we put ourselfs into stressful situations and fail to perform
20 of 22
Describe inverted U theory
As arousal increases so does performance until reaches its optimum. If activity involes fine skills , arousal must be low to optimise perfomance
21 of 22
