What are the therapeutic uses of stem cells?
Stem cells can be used for treatment of leukemia where cord blood is taken from the placenta, which contains many hematopoeic cells which can be used for this treatment.

What are the causes of Leukemia?
Leukemia occurs when the stem cells in the bone marrow divide uncontrollably and as a result far too many white blood cells are present. Chemotherapeutic treatment destroys all the cells in the bone marrow.
