What is Theophylline used for?
Chronic asthma, Chronic bronchitis, COPD and sometimes heart failure.

What are its main side effects?
Anxiety, Dizziness, nausea, GI disorders, Sleep disorders headaches and seizures.

How is it absorbed?
Absorbed by the GI tract after oral administration and is absorbed well when taken as a rapid-release tablet or liquid solution- food may slow down absorption.

How is it distributed?
Into body water and fat free tissues

How is it metabolised?
In the liver

How is it excreted?
Through faeces.

What are the contraindicators?
Hypo/er thyroidism, ,cardiac and cardiovascular diseases, epilepsy, congestive heart failure, fever, and elderly individuals.
