What is diffraction?
Diffraction is the spreading of waves when they pass through a gap or round an obstacle. Diffraction is a property of all waves including light and sound.

When are the effects of diffraction most noticeable?
The effects of diffraction are most noticeable when the wavelength is about the same size as the gap or obstacle.

Why do people living in hilly areas potentially have TV signal issues?
TV Signals are carried by radio waves. People living in hilly areas may not be able to recieve a signal as it is blocked by a hill. Radio waves passing the hill will diffract around it. If they don't diffract enough, TV and radio signals will be poor

We don't often observe the diffraction of light in everyday life because the wavelength of light is very short.
